Pay review body decides not to re-open settlement

UNISON’s Health Service Group Executive submitted evidence to the NHS Pay Review Body (NHSPRB) that argued against re-opening the multi-year pay agreement and in favour of maintaining the 2010/11 pay rise set out in the third year of the deal.

The NHSPRB has gathered evidence to decide whether to request a remit from the Secretary of State to review that pay rates for next year. From UNISON’s point of view it was felt that with inflation levels and pay settlements falling over recent months there would be no advantage to UNISON members in seeking to push a re-opening of pay negotiations.

Under the third year of the multi-year deal, all pay points will be raised by 2.25% from 1 April 2010.

A higher flat rate increase will apply to Bands 1, 2 and 3, and with additional monies applying to most pay points in Band 5 and the bottom three pay points in Band 6, the total value of the pay rise will reach 2.4%.
